This cool folded roof house is an artful blend of old and new. The unusual home designed by Austrian architecture firm X Architekten features a modern mix of glass and steel, giving the home its characteristic aesthetic. The steel house addition to the existing structure features a continuous folded Corten roof and facade, naturally weathered and naturally rusted in contrast to the more-traditional original structure. The hillside provides this slope house plan a clear distinction between the original residence and its modern addition, but these two components are connected by a wrap-around verandah and, of course, the folded steel that unifies it as a whole. Interiors are flooded with natural light through expansive glazing and skylights throughout. X Architekten
