Modern meets traditional in this German timber home design. Frankfurt-based FFM Architects designed Golden House and named it for its warm-colored timber clad facade. This former farmhouse, circa 1950, was demolished, apart from its chimney, and rebuilt to suit modern needs. The revamped house design features lots of windows punctuating the wood exterior, and includes openings in the main structure that collect the home to the garden. Moving from outside in, the style of the house shifts from traditional to ultra-modern minimalist interiors, with a predominantly white, simple palette punctuated by natural wood details such as the staircase and the exposed ceiling beams. Flooded with natural light, the whole home was a warm, welcoming glow. FFM Architects
