All for One and One for All.
This 4 in 1 living space combines kitchen, dining, entertaining, and sleeping all within one public area without compromising the overall design aesthetic of the home. The public zones are all allocated into three sections of the open concept living space with the living area double the size of the food zones while at the same time sharing its square footage with the exposed yet hidden sleeping zone. Disguised as an oversized ottoman the bed fits seamlessly into the overall furniture layout of the entertaining area without appearing out of place. This is partially achieved with the use of an oversized couch, dining table, artwork and area rug. By bringing in these large-scale pieces, the ottoman/bed fits right in.
Sights and Sounds for Day and Night
With a long and linear modern fireplace, centred below the flat screen TV on a dark media wall flanked by two windows. The living zone takes on a warm and cozy atmosphere that is further enhanced by the wide stripes within the area rug. This comfy cozy aesthetic is perfect for entertaining guests, and later, to fall asleep by. Who wouldn’t want to fall asleep to the visuals of a crackling fire and soft music playing from the media unit? The side table between the two accent chairs can be pulled up to the bed for late night reading or early morning coffee.
Backyard Bliss
The volume to this multi-zoned space is further enhanced by the large expanse of glass overlooking the backyard. Here, a quiet deck expands the living area to include an outdoor pool and lounge area. Sharing the yard is the garage. Open on two sides it offers outdoor living with a covered roof on those days that raindrops begin to fall. The backyard is not much bigger then the open concept living area and the two combined create an intimate setting that is as luxurious as many indoor-outdoor living spaces twice the size.
Food for Thought
The kitchen within this open floor plan is large and spacious, incorporating plenty of storage and counter prep space. With an L shaped layout that includes an island, there is even room for a double oven. The dining area is kept at a comfortable distance from the bar zone, creating easy movement even when chairs and bar stools are pulled out. The oversized dining table means that dining for 10 is very possible and the use of 3 oversized dining pendants keeps the volume of the table from overpowering the rest of the space. A long credenza under the side window offers the perfect place to store dishes while the dark wall mirrors the deep tones on the media wall. Keeping the kitchen cabinets white stops the large banks of cabinets from overwhelming the home, while the use of dark counters helps anchor the kitchen zone.
Who Could Ask For Anything More
This modern home is small in profile but large in style. With two indoor levels of well laid out spaces and an outdoor area that includes a pool, lounge area and garage joined to the indoors via the large expanses of glass, the home feels twice the size it actually is. Sandwiched between two other residences it doesn’t even loose its privacy. The attention to detail and clean lines used throughout have created a living space that is full of all of life’s conveniences, and then some.
