Located on top of a cliff in Rothesay Bay, Auckland, this modern New Zealand house opens up to the breathtaking sea views. With its wood-clad exterior facing the street there is no issue with privacy. And the inner courtyard that wraps around the seaside corner of the dwelling offers plenty of room for outdoor lounging.
Creative Arch ensured that the remodeling costs of the house were budget-friendly all the while making less impact on environment. Working to build upon the existing structure the designers created a new louvre system that covers the façade to increase privacy. The passive cooling and heating system, cross ventilation, and plenty of windows ensure the comfort for the residents.
Both living area and the kitchen feature retractable glass walls that open up to the outdoors creating an indoor/outdoor look and feel. A glass railing balcony wraps around the second floor allowing for more outdoor lounging space but ensuring that nothing obstructs the gorgeous marine panorama.
Two areas for alfresco dining in the courtyard and a big dining table in the kitchen make an impression that the house is made for receiving guests. And it’d be hard not to want to share the beauty of the locale with friends and family.
Modern homes designed in wood have a certain charm. And black powder-coating framing makes for a nice contrast in the exterior attracting attention and softening the glazed part of the house.
