Gomati is the name of this Malavli residence located in Maharashtra, India. Built with an Indian stone, Blue Gray Kotah on a mound of green fresh grass it looks rather modern. SPASM has turned an existing ‘unfit for occupation’ building into a luxury home with a pavilion-like living spaces and an incredible porch that connects the house and the mound.
Reimagining the existing structure the architects used recycled materials to create a scenic mound that now gives space for the residents to walk around and enjoy.
As a result of its clever design the new house features an incredible indoor/outdoor feel in the living room. And due to the numerous glass inclusions the house really opens up to an incredibly green site.
On top of the mound lies an impressive swimming pool with a mini deck rising above to the fence level, offering the picturesque views of the trees growing all around and beyond the plot. An oversized porch also allows to contemplate those views from an elevation.
Outdoor spaces are well-designed and give the residents multiple small nooks for enjoying the fresh air under the roof’s protection. Because of its pavilion-like layout there is plenty of transitional interior space in the house that has an incredible outdoor feel.
It seems like the Malavli residence could not have a better design approach. Its ubiquitous connections to the outdoors make it a very relaxing place to live where one could completely forget about mundanity and problems. (Photography by Photographix)
