A sunken lounge room surrounded by a pool is naturally the centerpiece of this home renovation. And all we can say is wow. Not just a sunken lounge surrounded by a pool but a suspended fireplace and a window into the pool. The client, inspired by the likes of Richard Neutra and Marcio Kogan, wanted a modernist pavilion extension to their home. And it had to be seamlessly connected to the garden and pool. Techne Architecture + Interior Design happily complied and created a new addition to the Art Deco home. And connected it is – one can sit on the sofa and almost be head level with those swimming. Or watch them through the underwater pool window. The neutral tones of the interior materials – travertine, American oak, brass, leather and velvet – add a rich texture without overwhelming. A fantastic open plan living room for enjoying both indoors and out.
