ONE!CONTACT reconstructed a house over the course of one year

This was once a traditional 1947 German home, believe it or not. Then ONE!CONTACT started reconstruction, and a year later a classic pitched-roof house turned into a contemporary building full of wide square windows.

To maximize light exposure, the architects introduced skylights into the big sloping roof. Glass inclusions are as numerous as they would be if a building was done from scratch. Sliding glass doors allow access to the landscaped outdoors with a pond and a waterfall.

Just like exterior, the inside of the home looks light and inviting. Minimal aesthetic interchanges with high-tech elements and live-edge designs.

Every room has plenty of daylight to boast in addition to impeccable styling. In the media room, there is a soft blocky furniture arrangement, while grey leather armchairs surround a live-edge dining room table in the kitchen.

Its closet/dressing room deserves its own paragraph, as the place is huge by modern standards and provides space for not only storing clothes but also dressing up and getting ready. At the same time it’s contemporary and smart, containing no unnecessary elements.

The architects also did a heck of a job on one of the bathrooms, that features a museum-like vanity with a rainshower and toilet at either side. There isn’t a trace of tradition left in this home, but it certainly looks amazing. (Photography by Jannis Wiebusch)
