Inspired by the luxury resorts of warm-weather destinations, the Taylor Vacation Home by architects Frank Harmon, Vincent Petrarca and Quan Bahn celebrates the breathtaking surroundings of Abaco, Bahamas, with a cube design that incorporates areas open to the outdoors. The notable feature of the home is its innovative roof – beautifully finished with a wooden bottom, and shaped like an inverted umbrella to provide shade while drawing in the cool ocean breeze. The roof also functions as the home’s source of water, collecting rain it its bowl-shaped reservoir and draining into cistern below. This vacation home is as brawny as it is beautiful. Its open facade is equipped with sliding doors and folding panels that can close up this open design in the face of a tropical storm. Frank Harmon
