This modern open fireplace is cleverly constructed. Designed by Miba architectsfor the Lara Rios House in Spain, it extends from the ceiling. The bottom hanging section is actually a grill and ashes fall through into a removable pod. What could be easier to dispose of? Not only that, but it’s attractive. It’s wide open but it’s deep, so it should be perfectly safe. At the same time, it looks cozy and inviting, not obstructive. It looks like it belongs there. It’s nice to sit by an open fire – almost like you’re in the outdoors. Marshmallows, anyone?
