This home, by AABE, shows how exposed brick walls can be integrated into a modern home and give it that extra special atmosphere. Notice the age worn yet fantastic stonewalls exposed throughout the house and how the pilasters are proudly put on view. Observe the bare wooden furniture pieces and the unrefined concrete ceiling with perfectly placed skylights. Speaking of concrete, the bath, shower and washbasin are also created with raw concrete slabs. But all the rawness and naturalness would not be as exciting if it were not contrasted by all that white glossiness. In essence, the modern fixtures, furniture and bright, white, polished straight lines actually enhance the impact of its surroundings, and vise versa. These opposite decorating concepts complement each other so well and the feeling in this house is proof of that. But before you rip out your ceiling and expose those brick walls, get some more decorating ideas and visit the AABE website.
