This resort style home in Singapore is a must-see for architecture aficionados and luxury lovers alike. Local Singapore architecture firm K2LD created this earthy masterpiece of glass and wood, surrounded by perfectly manicured multi-tiered gardens and an organically shaped pool that seems to spill around the pavilion. The structure itself features various levels and is described as “receding,” set back from the street and nearby neighbors to afford this urban house some sweet privacy within a city context. Read on to explore more.
A glazed circular pavilion features a delicate wood screen – for which the Screen House is named! – to give interiors some privacy while complement this natural, treed setting.
The raised pavilion sits on stilts, giving it a “tree house” appeal.
When viewed from the house, the pavilion comes in contact with a warm wood deck and an irregular shaped pool that works its way through architecture and landscape.
The front entry off the street is tucked under the overhanging roof supported by tall steel pillars.
The stone walls are another earthy element that connect the house to nature without compromising privacy.
But behind the exterior walls, the house opens up to outdoor living. A glass hallway connects the main house with the circular pavilion – just one of the home’s awesome features and an instant focal point.
This alfresco style living area offers the best of both worlds – shelter from the elements, along with unobstructed views and an outdoor feel without ever leaving the comfort of home. Encircled in glass walls, this space is also lined with timber slats that shield interiors from the sweltering sun and prying eyes.
The glass walls, and the wood screen accompanying it, continue throughout the house, lending it privacy without blocking out light and views, along with a warm, natural aesthetic.
When lit from inside, this wood and glass house glows like a lantern in the cool dusk.
Indoors and out seem to blend without a definite boundary.
The romantic reflection of this stunning house in the still pool doubles your appreciation for this thoughtful architecture.
And it certainly helps the mood when the neighboring homes just as sexy.
We call this modern luxury personified among nature!
