Designed by Belgian architect Carl Verdickt, Greenhouse is a unique, sustainable project that throws affordability into the mix. This modern eco-home in Asse, Belgium boasts a steel frame encased in super-insulating transparent glass and translucent polycarbonate plates, which gives the house awesome heat-trapping ability found in a traditional greenhouse, not to mention a contemporary look worthy of a triple-take. The home’s intense sense of openness continues inside, where an open-concept floor plan complements the huge walls of windows. A minimalist palette of white and wood accents the home’s minimal furnishings, and puts the focus on the interesting architectural features found within, like exposed ductwork, beams crisscrossing the high ceiling, and the cool, contemporary stone tiles on the floor. To maximize of natural daylight and the gorgeous green views, the home’s layout is inverted to place public living areas above, and the private sleeping quarters below. A loft above overlooks this open, airy layout, providing some privacy while maintaining a special connection with the main living areas. A revolving fireplace at the center of the home can be positioned to face any direction. Carl Verdickt
