BXBstudio Boguslaw Barnas has built an Eco House in Poland’s protected landscape area Nature 2000 last year, and it looks like a modernist dream. Blocky architecture reminds us of the classic modern house, but its interior design is far more contemporary. The geometry of white blocks arranged on a groomed grassy field contrasts nicely with a patch of ornamental grass and a waterless graveled alley.
The approach the designers took involved emulating the position of the sun during different seasons to optimize energy gain and loss. To make the most of the sunny spot, they created a 5-meter (16 ft) high zone for lounging. And to ensure the proper temperatures inside the house all year round, the architects arranged the layout to prevent overheating in summer, and used Izodom technology to reduce the heat loss during winter.

The 2015 square meters (21,689 square feet) of interior space are stylishly minimalist, and are finished primarily with concrete. The floating stairs leading to the more private areas illuminate the path at night with inbuilt wall lights.
In the living area and bedroom the retractable glass walls open up to the beautiful green views. Rectangular windows in the rest of the rooms are meant to provide dwellers with enough privacy.
The immediate outdoors are clad with a spacious wooden deck in level with the green lawns that invite to go out and kick off the shoes. It’s an interesting dynamic between such a minimal house and a green site, but it is a fitting one, since the dwelling was designed with environment-sensitive approach.
