When Los Angeles based Griffin Enright Architects designed this luxury Point Dume Residence in Malibu, California, all eyes were immediately on the view. Sited on one of the highest points of Point Dume – an undulating outcrop in north Malibu that reaches out into the Pacific – this amazing 6,000-sq.-ft. house was designed as a modern showcase for the spectacular surrounding scenery. “This project explores the nature of fluidity and sequence in the context of space, circulation and landscape,” say the architects. Inside, spaces are configured to flow into each other and spill out onto the landscape outside the expansive windows and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. Cool concrete floors are a contemporary complement to the gently rounded curves of the walls. The home’s outdoor living and lounging areas make the most of the views, with terraces encircling the house and an outdoor patio with a luxury lap pool. “The occupant becomes immersed in a continuous volume of spectacular views that focus attention both internally towards the architecture itself and externally towards the Pacific Ocean in the distance.” Griffin Enright Architects.
