Architect Duilio Damilano’s design for the contemporary Maison De La Lumiere was borne of two objectives – to steer clear of the predictable, stereotypical style of home found in surrounding Bologna, Italy; and to make it a hi-tech haven for the homeowners. The result is this modern design, separated from its neighbors by green living walls which encircle the house. Beyond the garden gate is the home’s contemporary, continuous floor plan that leads visitors from the outdoor swimming pool through the kitchen and to a glass-enclosed, open-to-above living room with a view to the home’s upper floor. Satisfying the architect’s tech-savvy objective, the house in entirely wired and automated, offering a truly modern, touch-of-a-button lifestyle of luxury. Duilio Damilano
