Arteks Arquitectura designed this modern house in Lleida, Spain, with an expansive deck attached that invites contemporary al fresco living. Actually, it may be more fitting to say that “this deck has a house attached.” With the spectacular Spanish countryside of rolling hills and valleys, the beautiful view was simply too good to pass up by both the homeowner and the architects. “The golf [course] must by my garden,” expressed the client, and thus the architect made these grassy vistas the highlight of this contemporary design. The home’s unique terraces and patios create a stylish observatory from which to take in the view. In fact, the variety of outdoor living areas are as involved as the home’s indoor living areas, with both covered and open decks, sittings areas, enclosed and exposed walkways running back and forth along the homes exposed facade and surrounding it. This house is built into the hillside, with its main entrance via the kitchen. The living room is raised from the entrance and kitchen, tucked away upstairs as a relaxing refuge. The unique home boasts a master bedroom for the couple, and bedrooms and lounging areas for three teenage sons and their friends. Expansive windows are equipped with a variety of shutters and slats, which not only serve to offer privacy and light control, but also adding another level of visual interest to the overall design.
