This contemporary panoramic house plan by Australian architect Max Pritchard was made as an observation deck of sorts – a glass wall house complete with large outdoor entertaining areas designed to maximize the panoramic views of sun, sea and surf. Located in Emu Bay, South Australia, this cool raised cottage sits one meter above ground level, providing a vantage point for the ocean-view vistas while reinforcing its dramatic design. This modern vacation house is a combination of corrugated colorbond, timber windows, flooring and decking, giving it a relaxed look while reinforcing the house, which is topped by a floating roof covering both indoor and outdoor living rooms. Timber decks surround the home’s glassed-in living room with a gorgeous fireplace and the ocean as the backdrop, always within easy view. A pair of bedroom wings sandwich the living area and enclose a rear sheltered courtyard, complete with a seating area and a wood-fired pizza oven. This chic holiday home has a sustainability factor to it too – double-glazed and high-performance glass, passive ventilation and fans for cooling, a high-efficiency combustion heater for heating, and tot water via an efficient electric heat pump.
