Made from paraffin, acrylic lacquer and wax using a 16th century technique, these stunning hand carved candles feature a Baroque aesthetic while sporting a variety of modern color combinations.
First the hard paraffin cast is dipped into a colorful liquid paraffin wax and then it is carved with special tools. At this point Natalia has only 15 minutes to do all her carving magic before the candle is too cold (and therefore too hard) to manipulate. Once finished, it is dipped into a special acrylic lacquer to create the shiny finish, which serves the primary purpose of protecting it from cold and hot damage.
A work of art that is perfectly sized as a dining table or coffee table centerpiece, these delicate creations would be just as beautiful and functional in a bathroom or next to your bed. Each candle is 17cm high (6.7″), weighs approximately 700 grams (1.3 pounds) and burns for an estimated 80 hours. Since each candle is hand carved, each candle is therefore unique – no two are exactly alike.
