Designed by Australian architects Shaun Lockyer Architects, this timber and glass house takes a different approach to “building” with a creative architectural style that focuses as much on the built-up areas as the negative space. Various volumes are stacked and staggered, creating outdoor entertaining areas tucked among the interior ones. On the main floor, the kitchen is the hub of this house – a social hotspot central to all other main living areas. This open concept home design enjoys a free-flowing floor plan, enhanced by a sliding glass wall that opens the kitchen to the garden. The home’s many windows combined with its open volumes further connect the indoors to nature. Upstairs, the bedrooms and a family room are private and peaceful, in contrast to the “social” layout of the main floor. Just outside, a two-storey sheltered alfresco dining area is overlooked by an upper loft. We love that this Australia home design really makes the most of the warm climate and nature while making a bold architectural statement. Shaun Lockyer Architects
